More than half a million people reportedly joined demonstrations across France before parts of the protests escalated into violence, including attacks on buildings and looting of shops. French police used tear gas and water cannon in Paris, while the interior minister said officers had lost control in some areas. The developments represent a major domestic security crisis for France and are unfolding alongside other significant international events, including deadly violence in Yemen, severe flooding in Spain and heightened U.S. warnings for citizens in parts of the Middle East.
