Putin warns West against escalation over Kaliningrad

Putin’s warning came as tensions remain high over the war in Ukraine and Western security policy. Kaliningrad is a Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania, both NATO members, making any confrontation there especially sensitive. The statement was a warning rather than an announcement of imminent military action, but its explicit nuclear reference increases concern about escalation and will likely prompt further scrutiny from European governments and the United States.
