The strikes are among the heaviest combined attacks on Ukraine’s power system in months, damaging electricity infrastructure in Kyiv and other regions and increasing concerns about winter outages. Ukraine’s energy company DTEK confirmed damage to facilities, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the assault targeted the country’s power grid. The escalation is unfolding alongside broader instability in the Middle East, including stalled ceasefire efforts between the United States and Iran, which have contributed to rising oil prices and intensified geopolitical uncertainty.
