The strikes represent one of the day’s most significant international developments because they caused substantial civilian casualties across multiple Ukrainian cities and demonstrate that Russia’s air campaign remains capable of inflicting widespread damage. The attacks come amid continued fighting elsewhere in the region and broader diplomatic efforts involving Russia, Ukraine, the United States and European governments. Further casualty and infrastructure figures may change as emergency crews search affected sites.
