The crash occurred in Toledo province south of Madrid and involved more than 500 passengers. Spain’s transport minister described the cause as an “inexplicable” error, while survivors reported scenes of panic and devastation. The collision is one of Europe’s worst recent rail disasters, with dozens more people seriously injured and investigations under way.[1][2][3]
