India cracks down on mass youth protests

Indian authorities have launched a major security crackdown in New Delhi, detaining thousands of protesters planning demonstrations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and the election chief. Authorities reportedly cancelled trains, closed metro stations, restricted internet access and warned students against joining the protests.
