A militia allied with Ethiopia’s federal government said it had taken full control of Mekelle Alula Aba Nega Airport, an opposition stronghold. Reuters reported that federal forces and allied fighters had launched a rapid counterattack into Tigray, while analysts warned that the fighting could develop into a broader regional conflict. The report did not independently verify the militia’s claim, and the rapidly changing situation means control of the airport and the wider security picture may remain contested.
