The incident has drawn international attention because it involved an apparent cockpit assault on a passenger aircraft during heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. Reports said passengers and crew subdued the attacker before the aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia, and Flydubai suspended flights to Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cautioned that it was too early to determine whether the incident had any state or extremist connection; those claims remained unverified in the available reporting.
