The earthquake struck Nagqu, where at least 339 homes and 20 livestock sheds reportedly collapsed. The scale of the damage and continuing rescue work make the disaster the most urgent major international development identified in the available coverage. Further casualties may emerge as responders reach affected areas and assess isolated communities.[1]
