The earthquake struck at about 10:33 p.m. local time on Thursday in Tibet’s Nagqu area, according to Chinese state media citing local emergency authorities.[5] The reported casualties and structural damage make it the most consequential immediate global breaking story identified in current coverage, while aftershocks, additional collapses and further victims remain possible as emergency teams assess affected communities.[8][10]
