Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant loses external power

The International Atomic Energy Agency said the Ferosplavna power line disconnected after damage, leaving the plant dependent on emergency diesel generators. The facility no longer produces electricity but requires a stable external power supply for essential cooling systems; prolonged generator use could increase operational and safety risks. The outage comes amid continuing military tensions around the plant, which has remained under Russian control since 2022.
