The strike forced the airport to shut down and prompted condemnation from the United Nations and European Union. Saudi Arabia’s coalition attributed the attack to Yemen’s Houthi movement, which has not claimed responsibility. The incident threatens to widen regional conflict and disrupt a major energy conference in Riyadh, while Washington has left open the possibility of military involvement.
