Houthis strike Saudi cities and energy sites, Riyadh vows retaliation

Multiple outlets report that Houthi forces in Yemen have carried out one of their most significant cross-border attacks in years, firing ballistic missiles and drones at several locations across southern Saudi Arabia, including cities and key economic and energy sites.[4][5][7][14] The strikes injured at least 73 civilians, among them children, and caused fires and temporary halts at some energy facilities, underscoring the vulnerability of global oil supplies to conflict in the Gulf.[4][5][7] Saudi officials have vowed to respond, while regional and international observers warn that any large-scale retaliation could further destabilize a Middle East already strained by Iran–Saudi tensions and wider proxy conflicts.[4][5][14] The attack is being treated as a major international story because of both the human toll and the potential impact on global energy markets and security dynamics.
