Iran-US war and Strait of Hormuz crisis intensify

The developing conflict is generating simultaneous military, diplomatic and energy risks. Reports indicate Iran-backed Houthi forces are increasing drone and missile attacks against Saudi targets, while a projectile reportedly struck a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline was shut after a drone attack. The United Kingdom has agreed to provide Saudi Arabia limited defensive military support, including air-to-air refuelling, while Gulf leaders meet with US President Donald Trump amid concerns about expanding war and reduced American protection. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy route, so prolonged disruption could affect oil supplies, shipping costs and international markets.
