The reported preparations could significantly escalate the regional conflict and threaten one of the world’s most important maritime trade corridors. Reuters said the operation is expected in the coming weeks and would be led on the ground by Yemeni forces overseen by Riyadh, with Saudi air support. The report is based on six people familiar with the preparations; it describes planning rather than a confirmed launch, so the immediate situation remains developing.
