Trump rejects Iran plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had offered a concrete plan under which the Strait of Hormuz could reopen and normal maritime traffic resume within seven days if necessary conditions were met. Trump reportedly deemed the proposal unacceptable and declined to say whether military strikes would resume after the U.S. midterm elections. The Strait is a critical energy transit route, so prolonged closure or renewed conflict could affect oil markets, commercial shipping, and regional security.
