Trump reportedly rejects Iran plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly presented the seven-day reopening proposal to U.S. negotiators during the United Nations General Assembly. Trump is reported to expect renewed strikes after the U.S. midterm elections and has referred to the waterway as “Trump Strait.” The Strait of Hormuz is a critical passage for global oil shipments, so any sustained closure or military escalation could affect energy markets, shipping, and regional security. Reports also indicate Saudi Arabia intercepted Houthi missiles and drones, while Iranian and Omani officials discussed passage through the waterway.
