The offensive was announced by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi, who said government forces would seek to regain control of the entire country. Houthi authorities reported 106 Saudi air and missile strikes over the preceding 24 hours, including attacks on Sanaa and the provinces of Al-Jawf and Taiz. The development comes as regional tensions remain high, including warnings from Iran that it could target U.S. military bases and vessels if Washington launches a ground invasion. Because the reports describe an active military escalation involving Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the Houthis and a major international shipping route, the situation carries immediate regional and global security implications.
