Pope Leo XIV wrapped up his first 10-day trip to Africa today with a final Mass in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, capping visits to Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea. In Cameroon, he addressed the 10-year armed conflict in the English-speaking northwest, promoting peace and dialogue between Christians and Muslims. In Angola, he highlighted poverty, income inequality, corruption, and illiteracy amid rapid urbanization and a young population. The tour emphasized reconciliation, human development, and fraternity across the continent.
