TRUMP FACES ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL CROSSPRESSURES
The most important U.S. story is the Trump administration’s struggle to manage a slowing, uneven economy while pushing an aggressive agenda on taxes, spending, tariffs, immigration, and defense. Recent analysis points to stronger first-quarter GDP growth, but also to weak hiring, manufacturing stagnation, and rising pressure from tariffs, debt, and budget choices. At the same time, Republicans face internal divisions over the direction of the party and whether they can unite behind another major legislative package. Courts and other institutions are also expected to constrain key parts of the administration’s domestic and foreign policy agenda.
