IRAN STRIKES ESCALATE
The most important U.S. story is the new American strike campaign against Iran, which followed the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. The escalation has further strained an already fragile ceasefire and raises the risk of a wider regional conflict. At the same time, Congress has moved on major domestic and foreign policy items, including new aid for Ukraine, sanctions on Russia, and funding for ICE. In U.S. politics, the redistricting fight in Alabama and the Trump administration’s hardline immigration and intelligence changes remain significant, but the Iran escalation is the dominant national security development.
