According to multiple international outlets, US President Donald Trump has publicly stated that he is now in a 'deciding mode' on the Iran war, signalling that major developments could follow if Tehran does not alter its behaviour.[13] This warning is unfolding against a backdrop of intensifying regional conflict: Yemen’s Houthi movement, backed by Iran, has been implicated in attacks including an attempted ballistic missile strike on Riyadh, while airstrikes in Yemen have killed civilians and damaged key infrastructure.[13][14] Israeli forces are conducting operations in Gaza, where authorities have launched an emergency plan to evacuate and demolish hundreds of damaged buildings at risk of collapse, and the Israeli army has also used phosphorus munitions in southern Lebanon amid shelling and limited ground incursions.[13] At the same time, Qatar is mediating proposals to restart US–Iran talks, and global markets are already feeling the impact of the Iran war through disrupted energy flows and heightened geopolitical risk.[11][13] Trump’s indication that he may take major new steps—ranging from intensified military action to expanded sanctions or diplomatic moves—suggests the conflict could soon enter a new phase with significant consequences not only for the Middle East but also for global stability, energy prices, and the wider international system.[11][13][14]
