Trump weighs renewed strikes on Iran as regional tensions surge

The prospect of renewed U.S. or Israeli strikes on Iran represents the most consequential immediate global security risk in current reporting because it could widen an already volatile Middle East conflict and threaten energy infrastructure and civilian air travel. Iran has not been reported here as having launched a new direct attack, but the combination of public U.S. threats, reported military planning, Houthi missile and drone operations against Saudi targets, and Israel’s highest alert status points to a rapidly deteriorating regional environment.[1][3][5]
